Monthly Update – October 2020 ($466,282.46, +$11,161.76)
October was a pretty good month for us overall. We focused on getting our expenses down quite a bit after going on vacation at the end of September. Overall, the month was quite positive for our growth, with the stock market and bitcoin gaining.
Let’s get straight into the numbers though.
Net Worth
Our net worth grew $11,161.76 this month. Here’s the breakdown:

Investments

This is where the bulk of our net worth increase was generated this month. My 401k alone gained around $9,000 thanks to an increase in the stock market. Additionally, we own quite a few oil stocks and those are starting to rebound.
Cash
Our cash is still sitting high since we sold our house, and it looks like our new house is going take much longer than anticipated so expect our cash to remain high for at least the next 6 months. Unfortunately, holding cash right now is expensive with our savings only earning .60%.

Property & Other Assets

Gold & silver have dropped slightly this month (from $1,900 an ounce down to $1,800) while bitcoin is up quite a bit (~50% increase in the last 30 days). The decrease in gold and silver and increase in bitcoin essentially netted out to zero for us this month.
Income
Our income has remained stable throughout this pandemic, but also the chance to increase my paycheck has been eliminated this year. At least our side income is going strong, with over $1,500 earned this month.
How did you guys do this month?
