Side Income Report – September 2017 – ($259.87)
September was the first real month that we’ve focused on building side income. Our goal long term is to build up multiple streams of recurring revenue outside of my day job.
Recently, we wrote a post about how we’re going to celebrate when we’re consistently hitting our side income goals. We need to hit these numbers for 3 months in a row to be able to redeem our rewards.
Our two main focus points right now are:
- Building my wife’s wine business
- Growing this blog
1) Direct Cellars – $257.50
The first way we’re focused on making side income is with my wife’s wine business. It took awhile for her to decide how she wanted to provide additional income, and ultimately she went with a network marketing opportunity revolving wine. The concept is fairly simple, yet very powerful. It’s a premium wine club delivering wine to your door each month.
The picture below shows our income so far (I’ve included August in here since this is our first side income report). The way the site displays the total earnings is a bit confusing, but the blue highlighted amounts are the total commissions.
2) Blog income – $2.37
I launched this blog in mid-September and haven’t really focused on monetizing the website just yet. My main goal right now is just producing quality content and growing the readership. I hope overtime this will be able to provide a good source of extra income, but only time will tell. I added some advertisements from Google AdSense to at least earn the cost back to host the blog, which is only around $6 a month right now.
Sources
100% – AdSense – $2.37
For anyone curious on the amount of traffic this blog got to earn $2.37 from AdSense, here’s a chart below. You can see the day that the blog was launched with a big spike in traffic. It stayed fairly high for a few days and has dropped off quite a bit.
The main source from this traffic was from social media (mostly Facebook) and a reddit post over at /r/financialindependence. There’s barely any organic traffic coming in currently as the website is only a few weeks old, but I hope to change this overtime as the site gets noticed more by Google.
One of the things for me to consider going forward is whether or not I should include dividend income. I’m not positive if I want to keep that in just the monthly updates or if we want to include that in the side income reports. If we do decide to add that in then it would certainly change our milestone rewards, since our highest level is only $250. What do you guys think? Should we include that in this report going forward and change up the rewards?
